What Are G.P.’s?
General Partnerships (G.P.’s) are provided for via the Farm Bill and are often referred to by critics as a loophole. The Farm Bill allows for “Multiple Partners” to be associated with a farm, each GP getting a new payment limitation. This results in millions of dollars per year in subsidies getting payed to a single farm adress, bypassing the cap set in the Farm Bill which would normally limit payments to 125k per year. Organizational structure as a “family farm” helps leverage the GP loophole.
Take Aways:
- This loophole allows Government money to be harvested, creating a “State Sponsored System”
- Scaling larger maximizes government payouts creating artificially high land values and rent in order for the “BIGS” to achieve necessary size.
- An Un-American structure by the USDA to limit competitiveness of regular sized American Farms.
- Degrades rural communities.
- All of this government intervention has created an ENTITLEMENT CULTURE on the farm.
